Deep Sea Drinking Water in Korea: A Guide to Cheonnyeondongan

Water from the sea? Your first thought may be salt. In Korea, you may see bottled drinking water described as 해양심층수 — deep sea water. The drinking-water product goes through treatment before it reaches the bottle.

This guide introduces 천년동안 (Cheonnyeondongan), a Korean brand featured in our Korean articles and short videos. We focus on its Eco label-free 350 mL bottle: where the water comes from, how to read the mineral information, and what to check before ordering in Korea.

1. From deep seawater to drinking water

Korea’s Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries describes deep sea water as seawater from depths of 200 metres or more. This describes its source. It does not mean that seawater is bottled without treatment. Source: Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries (Korean).

According to the manufacturer, Cheonnyeondongan starts with deep seawater collected at a depth of 605 metres off Goseong, Gangwon Province. Its production process removes salt and blends the treated water with mineral concentrates. This is how the company makes drinking water from a seawater source. See the manufacturer’s process (Korean).

For shopping, look for 먹는해양심층수 on the product information. It means deep sea water made for drinking. The words 천년동안 에코 350mL help you find the Eco bottle covered here.

2. Read the amount, not just the mineral ratio

The brand highlights magnesium, calcium and potassium in an approximate 3:1:1 ratio. A ratio tells you how these amounts compare with each other. It does not tell you how much is in one bottle.

Here is a bottle-sized view of the figures in the manufacturer’s comparison chart:

Minerals: per litre and per 350 mL bottle
MineralPer litrePer 350 mL
Magnesium (Mg)16.4 mg5.74 mg
Calcium (Ca)5.5 mg1.93 mg
Potassium (K)5.5 mg1.93 mg

Source: manufacturer’s Eco 350 mL product page (Korean). Per-bottle amounts are our calculations: per-litre figure × 0.35, rounded to two decimal places. They are not separate test results for each bottle.

These figures make the label easier to understand. They do not show that this water is healthier than every other bottled water. Compare the same unit, such as mg/L, when you look at another product. A “times more” claim also needs a clear comparison product.

3. Is 350 mL a useful size for your day?

A 350 mL bottle holds 150 mL less water than a 500 mL bottle. That may suit a short walk, a commute, or a small bag. It also means less water to drink, so plan a refill or bring more for a longer day out.

“Label-free” means the bottle has no wraparound body label to peel off. It still has a bottle and cap to dispose of. Follow the recycling instructions where you are staying.

Our view: the useful choice is the one that fits your bag, your day and your budget. If you are curious about this brand, check the smallest suitable order before making it a regular purchase.

4. Check these Korean words before ordering

  • 무라벨 — label-free.
  • 350mL · 20병 — 350 mL per bottle, 20 bottles. Check both numbers; another option may change the size or count.
  • 1회배송 — a one-time delivery. 정기배송 — recurring delivery. Check the schedule and cancellation terms before choosing it.
  • 배송비 — delivery fee. Compare the final checkout total, including delivery. Divide it by the bottle count for a per-bottle price.

The official store lists an Eco 350 mL, 20-bottle pack and offers one-time and recurring delivery choices. Prices, discounts and availability can change. Check the selected option at checkout, especially if the lowest price shown is for recurring delivery.

If you live in Korea, check whether the seller accepts your payment method and can deliver to your Korean address. A Korean phone number or identity check may be required by the platform. Being a foreign customer does not, by itself, make an order an overseas import: check where the goods are shipped from.

If you are visiting, ask your accommodation before sending a box there. Confirm that staff can receive it, that your booking name is clear, and that delivery is expected before you leave. This guide covers ordering for delivery in Korea; check international shipping separately.
