Korea Post at 5 PM: Mailing and Banking Have Different Hours
Information checked: 1 November 2026 (Korea Standard Time).
A post office can still be open for mail after its banking counter has closed. If you want to combine two errands, check the service you need before planning an after-work visit.

Choose the service, then the time
Korea Post’s official hours page (IN KOREAN) lists these regular counter hours:
| Counter service | Weekday hours |
|---|---|
| Postal · 우편 | 09:00–18:00 |
| Banking · 금융 | 09:00–16:30 |
Both are Monday to Friday, excluding public holidays. At 5 p.m. on a normal weekday, the standard postal counter hours still apply; the banking counter’s standard hours have ended. An ATM is a separate service, so its availability does not mean a staffed banking counter is open.
Check the branch’s lunch break
Korea Post says lunch closures can restrict service under regional rules. Use its official post-office finder (IN KOREAN) to check the branch you intend to visit. Look for 점심시간 휴무, meaning a lunch closure.
Our planning tip: save the exact branch name and its stated break before leaving. Do not transfer one office’s lunch hours to another office.

Closing time is not the dispatch cutoff
The official hours page also says the cutoff for mail to leave that day can differ by post office because transport arrangements vary. Ask the branch for its 오늘출발 우편물 접수마감시간 — the acceptance cutoff for same-day dispatch.
A counter visit before 6 p.m. does not by itself confirm that your item will leave that day. Ask about dispatch separately from the expected delivery date.
If you and your partner split errands, share three details: the branch, the counter service and the latest useful arrival time. That is more helpful than simply saying, ‘The post office closes at six.’
