Planning a short visit to Namsangol Hanok Village in Seoul? Start with the traditional houses’ opening hours. The garden has a separate schedule, so an open garden does not guarantee access to the houses.

Check the day and the house hours

Admission is free. The village’s official visitor FAQ (IN KOREAN) says the traditional houses normally close on Mondays, with an exception when Monday is a public holiday, including a temporary or substitute holiday.

Area or ruleWhat to plan around
Traditional houses in October9 a.m.–9 p.m. on open days
Regular house closureMonday, except the public-holiday rule above
Traditional gardenListed as open 24 hours

These are October hours. For a November trip, confirm the closing time with the operations office on 02-6358-5533: the official visitor-guide pages and homepage/FAQ currently give different seasonal changeover months. Leave enough time to see the houses before closing.

Read the date-specific restrictions

An official notice dated October 8, 2026 (IN KOREAN) lists two house restrictions: Min’s House from Gwanhun-dong is restricted October 22–23, 9 a.m.–9 p.m., for a hanok concert. The Okin-dong house is restricted every Thursday from October 1 to November 26, 4–9 p.m., for a night program.

If one of these houses is your main reason for visiting, choose a different date or time. Free general admission and a special program are separate arrangements; check that program’s booking information if you want to take part.

Keep the visit easy to reach and follow

The visitor FAQ places the village about five minutes on foot from exits 3 or 4 of Chungmuro Station, on subway lines 3 and 4. The address is 28, Toegye-ro 34-gil, Jung-gu, Seoul. The village has no parking facilities; drivers need to use a nearby paid car park.

For a guided visit, the official English guide says individuals join on site at the main-entrance Guide Office, without advance reservations. Sessions take about 40–60 minutes, are listed for ages 10 and above, and have a capacity of about 25 people. Check the language schedule and holiday exceptions before setting your arrival time.

Our suggestion for a visit at your own pace: allow roughly an hour, start with the houses that are open, then add a garden walk if you have time. Follow staff signs and temporary barriers. Agree on a comfortable pace if one of you wants photos and the other wants to read the displays.

Information checked October 19, 2026 (Korea Standard Time). Opening rules and restrictions come from the linked official pages; the one-hour plan is KEYWORD_WORLD editorial advice. This is not a personal visit report. No affiliate links.
