Want a short museum visit after work? Seoul Museum of Craft Art (SeMoCA) has extended autumn hours, but the whole museum does not stay open late. Choose your evening around the galleries you want to see.

Choose an open evening

The museum’s autumn notice covers 15 September–30 November 2026. Exhibition Building 1, floors 1 and 2, stays open until 9 p.m. on Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Thursday closes at 6 p.m.; Monday is closed. The evening gallery visit is free, with no reservation required.

Buildings 2 and 3 and the Education Building, including the Children’s Museum, are closed during the extended evening hours. Building 1’s third floor is not included in the late-opening area. Workshops have their own booking conditions.

An October closure changes the plan

A newer temporary closure notice says the first-floor lobby exhibition room in Building 1 is closed from 13 to 25 October 2026, with passage restrictions. It is due to reopen on 27 October. Do not treat the general late-opening notice as a promise that this lobby gallery is available.

For an evening in that period, focus your plan on Building 1’s second floor and check the entrance route with staff on arrival. The museum has not published a replacement walking route in that notice.

Make the second floor your main stop

The permanent exhibition 장인, 세상을 이롭게 하다 (about artisans and their work) is in Building 1, floor 2. It explores how skilled makers produced objects for royal ceremonies and everyday life. Listed materials include wood and lacquer, ceramics, textiles, paper and shell.

Our suggestion: pick one material you both find interesting and compare the details. How was the surface finished? What made the object useful? A focused look can make a short visit more satisfying than trying to cover every building.

Leave time for the shop—or choose Friday

The shop and craft library close at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday, and at 9 p.m. on Friday. The Information Center cafe opens on Friday, Saturday and Sunday only in October–November, until 9 p.m. Opening hours and available facilities can change; check the museum’s current notices before leaving.

For directions, use the official visitor guide: 4 Yulgok-ro 3-gil, Jongno-gu, Seoul, near Anguk Station, Line 3, Exit 1. There is no general visitor parking. The guide sets last admission at 30 minutes before closing, so plan to arrive before 8:30 p.m. on a late-opening night—and earlier if you want time to look around.

Information checked: 12 October 2026 (Korea Standard Time). The closure dates and autumn hours above are specific to 2026. Images are editorial concepts; follow on-site signs for the actual open areas.
