Incheon Airport Liquids: Check the Container, Not What Is Left

A nearly empty shampoo bottle can still be too large for your cabin bag. For an international departure from Incheon, read the capacity printed on the container before deciding what to pack.

Start with the container size

Incheon Airport’s official liquids FAQ sets a limit of 100 ml or less for each container, regardless of how much remains inside. That means a 200 ml bottle with only a little shampoo left does not meet the standard rule.

For ordinary toiletries, choose suitable travel containers of 100 ml or less. Keep the product name with each one so you can tell your shampoo, cleanser and lotion apart. A bottle marked exactly 100 ml falls within the stated size limit.

Put the small containers in one clear bag

The airport’s restricted-items guide requires a transparent resealable bag of 1 L or less, fully closed. The allowance is one bag per person. Small bottles still need to fit together inside that bag.

Toothpaste, gel cosmetics, lotion and shampoo belong in this check. Liquid or paste foods, including kimchi and gochujang, also have cabin restrictions. Do not leave them out simply because they are food.

Pack the bag where you can easily reach it. The FAQ says to take it out of your cabin luggage and show it to the security officer.

Check special items separately

This is the standard packing rule for ordinary liquids on international departures. Essential medicines, baby supplies and duty-free liquids need their own checks; ask the airport or your airline about the specific item and your itinerary.

For a connection, check the next airport’s screening rules too. Keep any required duty-free security bag sealed. A purchase at the first airport is not a reason to skip the transfer check.

Before leaving home, do one quick pass: read each capacity, close the clear bag completely, and leave it easy to remove. If you travel together, each person can prepare their own single bag.
