Planning a visit to Seoul Book Bogo after seeing an old used-book guide? Check what the venue offers now. Its current identity and opening hours can change the kind of afternoon you plan.

Start with what has changed

The venue’s official FAQ says its former used-book operation ended in 2024. It reopened in May 2025 as a book culture space. Old accounts of hunting through secondhand stock describe an earlier version of the venue.

The current space guide lists pop-up and curated shelves, a dedicated space for copying passages by hand, themed displays, a goods shop and a café. Choose one or two of these as your reason to go.

Our suggestion: treat it as a short book-and-design break. If your main goal is to buy a particular English title, check availability before travelling. This guide does not confirm an English-language collection or English-led activities.

Save the Jamsilnaru address

The official directions page gives Jamsilnaru Station, Line 2, Exit 1. Save the venue name 서울책보고 and the address 1, Ogeum-ro, Songpa-gu, Seoul in your map app.

Use that full name and address when meeting someone. The official website also links to Seoul Art Book Bogo as a separate venue; do not choose it by the similar English name alone.

Match your visit to the day

The same directions page lists these regular hours:

  • Tuesday–Thursday: 10:00–19:00
  • Friday–Saturday: 10:00–20:00
  • Sunday and public holidays: 10:00–18:00

Regular closures are Mondays, 1 January, the Seollal holiday period and the Chuseok holiday period. A Sunday plan therefore needs an earlier finish than a Friday plan.

Before leaving, check the official notices for temporary changes. For a specific activity or language question, contact the venue on 02-6951-4979. Café purchases, goods and any programme conditions should be checked separately.

For a visit together, agree on one simple plan: browse a display, then decide whether to stay for a café break. That leaves room for different reading interests without building the outing around an old description.
