Two packs of the same grocery item have different sizes and prices. Which gives you more for your money? In Korea, look for the unit price: the cost of a fixed amount, such as 100g or 100ml. Then compare the same amount on both labels.

Read the number and its unit

Look for 단위가격 (unit price) and 당 (per). A label reading 100g당 1,500원 means ₩1,500 per 100g. The large 판매가격 is the selling price for the pack. Read both the price and the quantity attached to it.

The ministry’s April 2, 2026 announcement (IN KOREAN) explains the system and its April 7 expansion to large online malls for 114 essential-item categories. That scope is limited; check what is actually shown for your selected item.

Units can differ. The ministry’s April 2, 2025 explanation (IN KOREAN) gives a useful example: foil is normally priced per metre, while dish-shaped paper foil can be priced per sheet. Compare like units. Weight and volume also need separate comparisons: 100g and 100ml are different measures.

Try one simple calculation

If a comparable unit price is missing, calculate it: pack price ÷ total grams × 100 gives the price per 100g. These are fictional examples for two packs of the same item, with no discount or delivery charge:

Example packPrice for the same amount
A: 400g for ₩6,000₩6,000 ÷ 400 × 100 = ₩1,500 per 100g
B: 700g for ₩9,800₩9,800 ÷ 700 × 100 = ₩1,400 per 100g

Pack B costs ₩100 less per 100g, while Pack A costs less to buy today. The unit price answers the amount-for-money question. Your budget, storage space and how much you will use help decide which pack to choose.

Check the selected option before paying

Our practical shopping check: confirm the exact size, number of packs and product type selected. A four-pack of 100g contains 400g altogether. Compare the same variety or formulation; a lower price per gram alone does not compare quality or concentration.

For a promotion, check the terms for your account and payment method. Use the price you will actually pay when doing your own calculation, and compare delivery charges separately. Before choosing the larger pack, also check its storage instructions and use-by date.
